Chris Boakes is currently fighting a battle against restrictive Cardiomyopathy. This is a condition where the heart is restricted from stretching and filling with blood properly. This abnormal heart function can affect the lungs, liver and other body organs and unfortunately for Chris, this now means that he requires both a heart and liver transplant.
A heart and liver double transplant has never been done in Britain before and specialists are not keen to attempt this which has left Chris with the only option of raising the funds to travel to America and have it done. This is going to cost approximately £250,000 for the transplant alone.
Chris is 26 and was hoping to marry his fiancé this year. This is unlikely to happen unless he can have this transplant done. Chris has a great deal of support from both friends and family and everyone is pulling together to raise as much money as we can to help him through this. We are currently arranging quiz nights, sponsored walks/runs and jumping out of aeroplanes to name a few.
